Successful First Quarter

We made it to second quarter! May all glory be given to God! Thank you to the students and their families for joyfully following the guidelines and reopening policies. Thank you to the faculty and staff for ensuring the students have both a safe and lively environment to continue their education in. We could not have made it this far without the diligent prayers of our community and the grace of God. Non Nobis, Domine.

We are excited to begin Quarter 2 on Tuesday. Enjoy a lovely long weekend!

New Mass Guest Attendance Policies

Please be sure to review our mass attendance policies for immediate families of students. Please note that they have changed as of October 7, 2020. All guests must RSVP using our Signup Genius so that we can keep tabs on how many are joined in one place.

Please be sure to sign up and review our healthy and safety policies for visitors on campus.

After-School Help Is Available Daily

Teachers are available daily after school to offer help to students who need it. They are also available via Jupiter Ed message if you just have simple questions or would like to set up a meeting or a phone call. Teachers* are available from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. If you need to make an appointment to ensure you have time to talk, please feel free to send a Jupiter Ed message to your teacher any time.

*Mrs. Roth is not available after school but you may reach out to her to arrange an appointment should you need it.

Save the Date for Parent-Teacher (and Student) Conferences

Conferences for parents, their student(s), and teachers will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 27 and 28! We will post the schedule of teachers so that you can RSVP for the appropriate date based on which teachers you need to see. The conferences will be held in the big gym, as usual. To allow time for as many families as possible to see teachers, families are invited to schedule a phone call with or meet with teachers one-on-one at another time if longer discussions are needed.

Report Cards Coming Next Friday

We just finished our first quarter on Friday, October 9. Time flies! Congratulations on the completion of the first quarter of the 2020-2021 school year! You will receive an email with a link to access your report card on Friday, October 16. If you have any technical questions, please contact Mrs. Ryan. If you have any questions regarding grades, please send a message to the specific teacher. Great job, Saints!

October Spiritual Resources

Check out the great spiritual resources and events for the month of October here. Each month we will be posting a spiritual resource page for our families. Be sure to keep this page handy as we will be updating it as needed.

Late Arrivals

  • Students who arrive late or any early pickups should come/go through Door 1 so the office is aware of who is coming in or leaving. Any student arriving late or leaving early is required to check in at the office window.

  • If a student is absent, please be sure to notify the office by 8 a.m. Even if the reason a student is absent may seem obvious, please call in so we are certain.  You may also email at attendance@cathf.com (not to info@cathf.com) - please include the phone number you can be reached at if we need to verify with you.

  • On inclement weather days, we will send word to parents of student drivers as a courtesy that your student has arrived safely.

For vacation-related trips: Please let the office know at least a week in advance if your student will have to miss school due to a vacation or family travel. When absences occur, a student is expected to make up any work missed in proportion to the number of days missed (e.g., when one is absent for two days, the work missed should be completed within two days of returning to school).

Please note that the Zoom online class system is meant to aid students who are self-quarantining or are staying home while sick in an abundance of caution, not as an accommodation for students who choose to travel on vacation or college visits on school days.

Spirit Wear

As the cold weather approaches and the fall sports teams begin their competitions, you will want to stay warm while you represent Chesterton with some new spirit wear! We will also have a few spirit wear days during the semester. Check out our SquadLocker store for a plethora of Chesterton attire, accessories, masks, and other goods. Support your Saints!

Sports Signups

FLAT FEE ($200) TO PLAY MOST SPORTS IN 2020-21

As you may have heard, the IHSA, Illinois' largest high school sports organization, is taking the preventive measure of pushing back the start of many fall sports. So, if you have signed a child up for Men's Soccer or Women's Volleyball, please know those sports will be pushed back to the spring (though we may be able to scrimmage in the fall to keep our skills up!).

Because of the uncertainty surrounding sports, we are allowing students to play most sports this year for one fee of $200! We hope this encourages more students to get involved with sports, regardless of skill level or past experience. Simply sign up for the sport of your choice below, and if you would like to play a second (or third) sport, just notify us at athletics@cathf.com by October 2, 2020. Due to greens fees, golf will require a separate fee for participation.
