Graduation
The Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2021 will take place in St. Sebastian gym at 6:00 p.m. on May 27, and Fr. Ryan Adorjan will be saying mass. The mass and commencement will be livestreamed for all Chesterton families. Seniors will arrive at 4:45 p.m. for pictures and preparation, and the building will open to their families at 5:45 p.m.
In a typical year, graduation is an all-school required event. However, because of space limitations due to COVID policies, we will need to limit the number of attendees at graduation while still giving seniors a chance to bring their families to this important event. We hope that we can return to graduation as an all-school event next year, but for 2021, it will be limited to senior families, faculty and staff, junior parents volunteering to help at the event, and the junior class which will sing at mass.
Class of 2021, be on the lookout for an email coming soon with Senior Week details! But for now, mark your calendars: your Lyceum Day will be on Monday, May 24. Seniors are not required to attend school on that day: It is your day to spend with your classmates off campus. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, you’ll be on campus for other senior events and opportunities, and on Friday, we will send you off at the all-school picnic!
Last Week of School
Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will wrap up their academic year from Monday, May 24 through Wednesday May 26. Those days will have normal school hours and attendance.
On Thursday, May 27, all students will come to school from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. That morning there will be a Chesterton seminar, all-school cleaning, and book return. Any last make-up tests will be taken on the 27th. The school will end the day together in prayer. Seniors will also have their final graduation rehearsal in the morning.
The last day of the year, May 28, is a grand picnic to celebrate another successful year! Students should arrive at 10 a.m. and will be dismissed at noon. We are planning a few Field Day events for the day. Students should bring their own lunch and their water bottle. At the end of the picnic, we will wrap up the year by announcing the winner of the White Horse Cup and praying the Angelus followed by the Salve Regina.
End-of-Year Notes
As we are nearing the end of the year, we have a few housekeeping notes for our students:
May 27th will be the day for book returns and you will be guided through the process so everything can be kept orderly. Please do not drop off books at the front office before that time.
Please make sure your books are in good shape and accounted for, or you may be subject to a replacement fee.
