The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes

  • Chesterton Academy of The Holy Family 5205 Kingston Avenue Lisle, IL, 60532 United States (map)

He’s the world’s most recognizable detective, the subject of numerous film and TV adaptations, renowned for his powers of deduction and dazzling mind. He is Sherlock Holmes. He is the world-famous, fictional character dreamed up by the Scottish writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who modeled Holmes’s methods and mannerisms on those of Dr. Joseph Bell, Doyle’s professor in medical school. Sherlock Holmes’s popularity in Great Britain rivaled some real-life people!

His popularity is timeless, and the junior class will prove that by performing five different tales about Sherlock Holmes, each set in different times in history and featuring very different Sherlocks and Watsons. They will start with the mystery of The Blue Carbuncle. Come Step into the Hansom cab as we rattle down the foggy streets of Victorian London in the company of the world’s greatest detective and his loyal companion. There is a mystery to solve, and Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson are on the case.

From Victorian England, we will move on in years and meet a female Sherlock Holmes who discovers why her client has received in the mail Five Orange Pips (seeds). At another point in time, we will find a once-again gentlemanly Sherlock involved in The Adventure of the Devil’s Foot in the 1940s. The Adventure of the Copper Beeches will bring us to modern day with another female version of Sherlock solving a mystery for a nanny. Finally, we will find ourselves back in time to 1930 and a special case of forgotten memories and The Disappearance of Adam!
