Class of 2024 Donation

Class of 2024 Donates Gold Candlesticks to the School

At Chesterton Academy of The Holy Family, it is a cherished tradition that the senior class gives back to the school—a gesture of gratitude for the many sacrifices and investments made on their behalf. Parents have made it possible for their children to attend a school that forms both mind and soul. Teachers have poured wisdom, time, and love into their students. And the entire staff—administration, office, advancement, admissions, athletics, and student life—has faithfully supported them at every step.

Now, it’s their turn to give back.

Each year, the senior class is invited to present a gift to the school—something meaningful, lasting, and symbolic of their time at Chesterton. This year, the Class of 2024 has gifted the school a gold candlestick from Rome, chosen and purchased during their Senior Capstone Pilgrimage to Italy. The ornate candlestick stands as a symbol of faith, gratitude, and legacy. Mysteriously and beautifully, a second matching candlestick appeared—an anonymous gift that completes the pair. These candlesticks were formally presented to Mr. Brenie Bowles on behalf of the senior class.

The candlesticks will be used at school Masses for years to come, serving as a visible reminder of the light that leads us toward the Eucharist—and of the generosity of the Class of 2024.

Why gold candlesticks? In the Catholic liturgy, gold candlesticks represent honor, reverence, and sacred beauty. Gold symbolizes divine glory and the kingship of Christ. When carried in procession or placed near the altar, these candles don’t just illuminate—they proclaim that something holy is taking place. Their presence reminds us of the dignity of the altar and draws the hearts of the faithful toward the mystery of the Mass.

Previous senior class gifts have included the St. Joseph Holy Water Founts, a Relic of St. Pius X, and Icons of the House Saints. With their contribution, the Class of 2024 now takes its place in this tradition of lasting gratitude and faithful witness.
