Chesterton Weekly 12/11/20
“Any one thinking of the Holy Child as born in December would mean by it exactly what we mean by it; that Christ is not merely a summer sun of the prosperous but a winter fire for the unfortunate.”
― G.K. Chesterton

Advent Retreat on Monday Afternoon
We are so pleased that Fr. Ryan Adorjan can provide our students with the opportunity to attend a beautiful Lenten retreat on Monday afternoon on our campus. We have a revised schedule for those Zooming on Monday morning which will be posted this weekend on our online learning page.
Kris Kringle Week
Secret Santa Gift Exchange
If you have not yet read the description and guidelines for Kris Kringle, please find them here.
If you haven’t brought your stocking into school, please feel free to bring it in on Monday and leave it on the table by the office. Remember: it must have your name very visibly on it so your Kris Kringle can see it!
Students should drop their gift off in their Kris Kringle’s stocking on their way to class. The stocking will be hung according to house on the lockers in the hallway.
Friday is a half-day, and we’ll make time during the day for all students to help out with an all-school cleaning and tidy. Students will be ready for pickup at roughly 12:30 p.m. (directly after mass) and should plan to be off campus before 1 p.m.
Friday Optional Dress Up Day
Students may come to school in uniform with a few festive accessories to dress it up a bit.
Boys are welcome to wear a Christmas sweater, Christmas tie, and/or Christmas socks. Boys should wear these items with both their uniform pants and their uniform shirt.
Girls are welcome to wear a Christmas sweater, a Christmas hair accessory, or Christmas socks. Girls should wear these items with both their uniform skirt and their uniform shirt. Girls may NOT wear ties.
All items should be appropriate for mass. Please, no sweatshirts, hoodies, or “ugly Christmas sweaters.” Sweaters should be more formal--similar to the school sweater.
Advent Prayer Service and Student Formalwear
This year, we will have an Advent Prayer Service for families in place of our traditional Advent Lessons and Carols service. School leadership vetted a number of options for holding the event or making recordings in a safe way, but it has opted to forego a choir event. Nevertheless, we feel it is important to still provide the community with a chance to be united in prayer. Save the date, Thursday, December 17, for a beautiful prayer service with Fr. Ryan Adorjan (in-person or remote option).
Many parents have been asking if the formalwear uniform is still required for this year. Yes, students will have the opportunity to don their formalwear in the winter for the satellite and main site gala parties, as well as the Spring Fine Arts Festival. For those of you with growing boys, just buy a size or two up, and you can work with our tailors and seamstresses in the community to get the proper fits for your student. Please see the uniform page for the information on formalwear and contact information seamstresses.
Dance Auditions
The dance auditions, originally to be held after school on December 15th, will be moved, so the events have been removed from the calendar. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
Lunch Delivery Alternative Dates Due to Online Learning Week
For those who are part of the boxed lunch program, we have rescheduled the lunch deliveries that were supposed to happen last week in the coming two weeks. Ms. Lana Trapp has emailed all participating families with the alternate dates.
