Chesterton Weekly 12/04/20

“There is no more dangerous or disgusting habit than that of celebrating Christmas before it comes, as I am doing in this article. It is the very essence of a festival that it breaks upon one brilliantly and abruptly, that at one moment the great day is not and the next moment the great day is.”

― G.K. Chesterton

Great News for the Chesterton Schools Network

A huge congratulations to Dale Ahlquist, founder of the Chesterton Schools Network and the president of the Society of Gilbert Keith Chesterton, on President Trump's intent to appoint him as a Member of the Board of Directors of the National Board for Education Sciences.

This is great news for the education system, an honor to the Chesterton Schools Network, and proof that our schools are set apart from the rest.

Successful Week of Online Classes

Thank you to our faculty and staff, and our students and their families for a successful week of online classes. We are excited to come back together for in-person classes on Monday, December 7!

Advent Prayer Service and Student Formalwear

This year, we will have an Advent Prayer Service for families in place of our traditional Advent Lessons and Carols service. The school leadership vetted a number of options for holding the event or making recordings in a safe way, but it has opted to forego a choir event. Nevertheless, we feel it is important to still provide the community with a chance to be united in prayer. Save the date of Thursday, December 17, for a beautiful prayer service (in-person or remote option).

Many parents have been asking if the formalwear uniform is still required for this year. Yes, students will have the opportunity to don their formalwear in the winter for the satellite and main site gala parties, as well as the Spring Fine Arts Festival. For those of you with growing boys, just buy a size or two up, and you can work with our tailors and seamstresses in the community to get the proper fits for your student. Please see the uniform page for the information on formalwear and contact information seamstresses.

Fleur-de-Lis Gala 2021

Thank you to everyone who read and signed their Gala sheets! We appreciate the time you took to review the different ways to help make our gala a success. On Monday, we will get a count to see if any houses turned in all of their gala sheets before the deadline for the coveted 25 house points!

Lunch Delivery Alternative Dates Due to Online Learning Week (Updated December 7, 2020)

For those who are part of the boxed lunch program, we are rescheduling the lunch deliveries that were supposed to happen last week in the coming two weeks. Once we have confirmed the additional delivery dates, we will notify just those parents who have ordered so you can take a break from making lunch on those dates!

No riddle this week, just turn in those Gala sheets!
