Fleur-de-Lis Gala 2021

Gala season is upon us!! The Fleur-de-Lis Gala is our annual fundraiser, complete with guest and student speakers, beautifully choreographed dance numbers from our students, an all-school choir feature, unique auction baskets and raffle tickets, delicious dinner with great conversation, and a night we promise you won’t forget. Each family is expected to participate in the gala in various ways. Please take a look through the following items for more information!

General Gala Information

Each student was sent home today with a packet of Gala items, including a letter to all families regarding their Gala Duties. Please read over that letter when you have a chance. There is a signature sheet that we are asking each family to turn in confirming that they have read through all the Gala materials. The houses that have all their forms turned in by December 5 wins points for their house!

Raffle

The raffle is a significant part of our gala fundraising. Every family is asked to sell at least 5 raffle tickets. Please read all about it here. Each family was given a few raffle flyers in their gala packet. When you run out, you are welcome to print or email this PDF so you can publicize the raffle. We will also have a few in the office after break if you need a few extra. There is a big house point bonus for the house that sells the most tickets! If you want to buy a raffle ticket, the purchase page is live!

Auction (A Note from the Silent Auction Chair, Mrs. Karen Nawas)

How can you help ensure a successful Auction this year?! We are asking each family to procure a donation by the January 15 deadline. Please print the letters and intake forms and keep them in your car wherever you go. Ask, Ask, Ask!

During Advent preparations and Christmas shopping, while ordering meals, getting hair or nails done, and making purchases, it is a perfect time to ask for a donation. Please see the list of items for things we are looking for. Please contact Karen Nawas with any questions regarding donations or other ideas you may have. Turn in all items to the office with a completed intake form. Any alcohol donations may be coordinated with Julie Bowles as we cannot have those on campus. Many thanks for all your contributions!

COVID-19 Updates and Lessons and Carols

Throughout Thanksgiving Break, we will be closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation to determine the best plan of action when returning to campus after the break. Please keep an eye on our COVID-19 page for all updates on our plan, some of which may come during the break. Thank you!

We have just received notification that Lessons and Carols at the Cathedral in Joliet as we had originally planned it may not be possible. The administration is working to find a way to allow our students to perform or record this service in a responsible way. We will be in touch with more details.

Many parents have asked if they would still need to buy the students’ formal uniform attire in the event that Lessons and Carols is canceled. Yes! Students will still need their formal attire for the gala (even home-hosted gala parties), the Spring Fine Arts Festival, and, if the guidelines in December allow it, Lessons and Carols too. So please, do take a moment to purchase the proper choir attire. We are just confirming that students will need it this year. The details on the formal attire are found in the charts for boys and girls on the uniform page.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Thanks to the House of Chrysostom, especially their prefects John and Clare, we had an incredibly successful food drive! We received a total of 1,800 items! Each house did an inspiring job collecting items throughout the week, and all to be donated to the St. Joseph Food Pantry in Downers Grove. We can’t wait till the next drive! Be sure to check out our social media accounts for pictures.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you, families, for your incredible support, constant understanding, and unflagging enthusiasm throughout this year. Despite the challenges, it has been packed with things to be thankful for. God bless you and all your family and friends!

Frances Chesterton Mom’s Club
