Chesterton Weekly 1/08/21

Basketball Season Game Attendance

At this time, we are asking only the immediate families of our basketball athletes to attend our home games. To make it possible for more families to watch their athletes, we ask that you please attend only the game that your student athlete plays in. If there is extra space, we can seat students who are not related to athletes, but that is not a guarantee given that we are giving preference to the families of athletes and to ensure we have room for our opposing teams and their coaching staff. Thank you for understanding! Be sure to check out our spirit wear shop for your game gear and to show support of your student athletes.

Saints athletics Calendar At-a-Glance

Click here for a summary of upcoming games, but be sure to bookmark our calendar and check it for full details weekly. Athletes, your coaches will confirm the times with the team a few days in advance of games. Please ask your coach how early before the game you should arrive. All coaches can be reached via Jupiter Ed message.

Diocese of Joliet Pro-Life Procession

Benet Campus Ministry, along with Ss. Peter and Paul Parish in Naperville, invites the entire Diocese of Joliet community to join in the procession in order to witness to the beauty of life and the Mystery and Power of the Eucharist in this "Procession for Life."

Bishop Hicks and Abbot Austin will be attending as well as two wonderful speakers, Dr. Linda Couri and Melissa Villalobos, who will share their miraculous stories of God's intervention and protection of life. Many Knights of Columbus Councils from local parishes are also participating and lending support. Please see this flyer for more information.

We strongly encourage our entire community to participate in this blessed day!

Chicago March for Life

The annual Chicago March for Life is coming up! It will look a little different this year, but it’s always important to stand for life. Find all the information here. And don’t forget to purchase your pro-life gear!

Fleur-de-Lis Gala

Auction Updates

As the Christmas season is coming to a close and you go back to your day to day, we ask you to keep in mind the needs for our upcoming auction at our Fleur-de-Lis Gala, March 6, 2021. We are asking each family to procure a donation by the February 1 deadline. Perhaps you received fine wine or liquor, a beautiful gift basket, or gift certificate that you would like to donate to the auction. There are so many ways to contribute a donation. If you have any empty Christmas gift baskets from the holiday season and would like to donate them, we would be happy to use them for our auction baskets. Please let Karen Nawas know and we will work with you on obtaining the basket.

Please see the list of items below of things we are looking for. Please contact Karen Nawas with any questions regarding donations or other ideas you may have. Turn in all items to the office with a completed intake form. Any alcohol donations may be coordinated with Julie Bowles as we cannot have those on campus. Many thanks for all your contributions!

High school seniors who wish to enter the 5th annual Essay Scholarship Contest can sign up for Recruit Me online here. Applications and essays can be submitted online at the link below until February 15, 2021.

The winner of the annual Contest is awarded $5,000 toward the cost of attending one of the institutions recommended in The Newman Guide. The scholarship is made possible thanks to the generosity of Joseph and Ann Guiffre, supporters of the Newman Society and faithful Catholic education.

Additionally, there is the opportunity for the winner of the Contest to be awarded $20,000 over the course of four years. Several of the Newman Guide colleges have agreed to supplement the Newman Society’s scholarship with additional $5,000 grants over three additional years.  Learn which Newman Guide colleges have opted to supplement the Newman Society scholarship at this link.
