Chesterton Weekly 3/19/21

“When the world shook and the sun was wiped out of heaven, it was not at the crucifixion, but at the cry from the cross:

the cry which confessed that God was forsaken of God.”

Re-Enrollment for the 2021-2022 School Year

Attention, parents: re-enrollment contracts have been emailed to you. You will receive an enrollment email and fill out the form for each student you have enrolled at CATHF. Please note that we are using the Rediker system for our forms this year, so it is possible the email will be filed into your spam folder since it is a new email address. If you have not received your invitation to re-enroll, please check your spam folder. The due date for re-enrollment is April 7 (not April 6, as stated in the video preview).

Happy Feast of St. Joseph!

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the declaration of Saint Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church, Pope Francis declared "The Year of St. Joseph" to be from the 8th of December 2020, to the 8th of December 2021.

As we take The Holy Family as our namesake, we were overjoyed to hear the news. He has certainly watched over us closely during this last year. We are so grateful for his steady, strong protection of our school and continue to pray each day for his continued care.

Saint Joseph, husband of Mary and foster father of Jesus, pray for us.

Spring and Easter Break

Spring and Easter break are typically not two weeks. However, the Lisle 202 School District will be replacing the water main, and we are unable to use the building during that time.

Due to the campus maintenance, the staff will not be on campus, but if you need to reach someone, please reach out via email or Jupiter Ed, or leave a message on our office voicemail and we will return your call. The office will be closed from April 1 through April 5 in observance of Holy Week and Easter.

We hope you have a restful and joyous Easter, and we look forward to seeing you back on Tuesday, April 6!

Lost and Found

All unclaimed lost and found items were taken to a local charity on March 17th. Anything left over the break will be brought to a local charity as well.

Lunch Orders for April and May

The boxed lunch order form for the next two months is now online! Please click here to visit the page to place your order before Tuesday, April 6.

Prefect Nominations

It’s that time of year! We are ready to begin the nomination process for our 2021 fall semester prefects. At Chesterton, each House is led by 2 upperclassmen. They are nominated by the members of their House to lead throughout the following semester. If you would like to know more about what a prefect is, read this document. Students, we highly encourage you to give this document a thorough reading before nominating a fellow classmate.

Here is how the nomination and selection process works:

  1. Students and faculty advisors from each House nominate one student, a rising junior or senior, to lead their House for the following semester. Please give some thought to who you would like to nominate and submit their nominations here.

  2. Nominees will be informed of their nomination and about the next steps in the selection process.

  3. The nominees will submit a cover letter (a prompt will provided) and a resume, and interview for the position. All due dates and scheduling will be provided upon nomination.

  4. The prefect advisory board will review each candidate. Our prefects will be chosen from those nominated students who completed the selection process.

  5. We will announce the prefects for the following semester and work with them through the remainder of the semester to best prepare them as servant leaders to their House and Chesterton as a whole.

We are excited to begin this process!

Playbill Design Contest

Calling all artists!! We are excited to announce another playbill design competition! Please take a look at this document for all the information. Good luck to our artists, we are excited to see your designs!

Chesterton Invitational

We had a blast playing basketball with our fellow Chesterton Academies in our first ever Ball and Cross Invitational! We were joined by Chesterton Academies from Peoria, Milwaukee, and Detroit. It was great to build friendships with our fellow academies and we are so excited to have them back! We have a few t-shirts left from the tournament in the following sizes: 3 - 2XL, 7 - XL, 3 - L, 2 - S.

Please come by the front office if you would like to buy one. They are on sale for $15 each.

Chesterton Supper Club

Save the date for the April Chesterton Supper Club on Saturday, April 24, from 6pm - 9pm at St. James at Sag Bridge. All parents, staff, and faculty are invited! Hopefully the weather will be nice enough for us to enjoy the beautiful patio that evening.

Chesterton Supper Clubs are dinner events for our parents, faculty, and staff. The night typically consists of a cocktail hour with fellowship, a guest speaker, and a delicious potluck dinner. They are perfect evenings for our parents to meet and deepen their friendships.

Spring Fine Arts Festival

Every year we host the Spring Fine Arts Festival to showcase our students’ artwork, music, dances, and more! We were not able to hold this amazing event last year due to the lockdown and are very excited to welcome our school families to the 2021 event. The festival will be in the evening of Thursday, April 22, 2021. All students are required to attend and they must wear their gala attire for the evening’s festivities. It’s going to be a lovely night.

Vocations Retreat

There is an upcoming vocations retreat for our young men to experience life at the St. John Vianney College Seminary. A few of our students and alumni have attended this retreat and were inspired by the brotherhood on campus. Read more about it and register here.

No riddle today, nominate your future prefects instead!!
