Chesterton Weekly 6/2/21
“When we step into the family, by the act of being born, we do step into a world which is incalculable, into a world which has its own strange laws, into a world which could do without us, into a world we have not made. In other words, when we step into the family we step into a fairy-tale.”
― G.K. Chesterton

Another Great Year!
A Few Housekeeping Notes
A Note from Fr. James Socias
Another Great Year!
And just like that, we finished our 2020-21 school year! Time flies when you are having fun. We are so proud of our students and families for putting our community first so that we could keep our doors open, all year.
Congratulations to the House of Chrysostom which won the White Horse Cup competition for the 2020-2021 school year! It was an exciting and competitive race this year, and we look forward to welcoming the incoming freshmen and transfer students into their houses in August.
Final Housekeeping Notes for this Year
Sports Uniform Return by Friday
Please return any sports uniforms you may still have at home before this Friday. We are missing quite a few uniforms from almost all sports: Cross Country, Basketball, Volleyball, and Soccer. Though we have rugby and boys volleyball games left to play this weekend, all other students must turn in all their uniform pieces (or pay a replacement fee) before their report cards can be released this Friday afternoon.
Summer Reading Posted
Assignments for all grades and their study guides are posted at http://www.cathf.com/students.
Uniform Measurements Available on Campus Next Wednesday
Save the date for a uniform fitting next Wednesday morning, June 9 with a representative from Schoolbelles. Once we have finalized the times, we will send out a form so that you can RSVP for your preferred time slot. Fittings take about 15-30 minutes.
If you cannot make it to the on-campus measuring day, you can always make an appointment to visit Schoolbelles at their store in Bridgeview any time this summer to have measurements taken for your student’s uniform.
Ice Cream Social Thursday, June 3
Chesterton students and families are welcome to join us this Thursday, June 3 from 2 - 3 p.m. for an ice cream social. We will gather on campus outside by Door 9. RSVP via this form so we know how much ice cream to bring. If you can’t make it this time—no worries! We’ll have more family events this summer.
Also, if you are coming on Thursday, please feel free to drop off any used school uniforms that are clean and good condition if you will not be using them next year.
A Note From Fr. James Socias
Fr. James Socias has been a wonderful supporter of CATHF from our inception, and he has been reassigned to new endeavors. "Fr. Jim", as we call him, has provided our leadership with guidance and encouragement, and he has spent countless hours providing spiritual direction, confession, and retreats to our students, staff, and alumni. He will be sorely missed, but our community is so much richer because of him. Good luck in your new adventures, Fr. Jim. You will be in our prayers!
Greetings to All Staff, Students, and Families of Chesterton Academy of The Holy Family,
I pray that your celebration of Easter with your family and friends was enjoyable and filled with many graces. It is my desire that you continue to bring this joy of the Resurrection of The Lord, to all those you come in contact with every day, especially during these 50 days of Easter as we continue to contemplate the time Our Lord walked the earth after His Resurrection.
This joy must be present in all we do, and I joyfully express that it has been a pleasure to serve all of you.
The reason for my departure is that I am being given a new assignment from the directors of Opus Dei and I accept it with all of my heart. Part of my vocation is to be a fisher of men, and today I am casting my net where I am instructed; gathering souls for the Glory of God.
I thank all of you for your assistance in helping me fulfill my vocation. Remember, putting our faith and trust in God and His Mother, we can do great works.
Please, let us pray for one another, that we joyfully allow the Holy Spirit to use us as He will.
Sincerely,
Fr. James Socias
