What is the Chesterton Weekly?
I’m glad you asked! The Chesterton Weekly is your one-stop shop for all the important current Chesterton news and announcements. Here we will let you know about upcoming events, important housekeeping and policy notes, give you updates on the happenings within our halls, and make sure you are caught up on all things Chesterton. The newsletter is a must-read item and will answer more of your questions than you knew you had. Don’t miss a week! Or you’ll feel like you’re always late to the party.
Our main forms of communication are this newsletter, school-wide emails sent from Constant Contact, or Rediker’s Plus Portals. Next week, every parent and student will receive an invitation to join Plus Portals for communications with teachers and staff. For volunteering and social events, we will also use Signup Genius, Perfect Potluck, and Punchbowl.
First Week of School Notes
One week of classes down! We are so excited to dive deep into the school year as we move forward! A couple things to keep in mind as we smoothly transition into another great year.
All students received their class schedules this week. There are a few conflicts that have been resolved, so some students will receive updated and finalized schedules.
Please find the bell schedule on the parents page.
We highly encourage our students, regardless of exemption, to wear a mask in mass. This is out of respect for our visiting priests. Please check your emails for the latest notes from Mr. Janeiro regarding all of our COVID policies. It was sent on Thursday, August 26. It includes all the links you need to our COVID policy, quarantine policy, the waiver, and the medical mask accommodation form.
All homework given to students should be written down either in their notebooks or their planner as their teachers give homework verbally during class or write it on the board. Under normal circumstances, students do not need to go online to find their homework assignments.
Please see this list of the Top 10 ways Chesterton and Parents Collaborate to Form the Hearts and Minds of Students from our headmaster, Mr. Janeiro.
Lost and Found - lost and found items will be put in Frassati in the northeast corner near the sink. If a student loses a watch, jewelry item, wallet, or something of high value, they should check the front office, as well as Frassati.
Friday Cleaning
Every other week, your student’s house will be staying after school, from 3:30pm - 4:00pm to clean the campus. All cleaning dates are on the calendar and are categorized as East House days and West House days. The houses of Ambrose and Augustine are West houses and the houses of Chrysostom and Athanasius are Eastern Houses. If a student is not able to stay for their cleaning, they must tell their prefects at least the day before and must find themselves a replacement. Thank you for helping us keep our campus beautiful and clean!
Yearbook Picture Day September 1
On September 1, LifeTouch, our Yearbook and school picture provider, will be coming to school to take all student photos. Please remind your students to come to school looking clean and put together. If you would like to order personal pictures for your student, please have them stop by the office on Monday to pick up their order sheets. They will need to bring these sheets back on picture day and turn them in to the photographer when their photo is taken. You can also order your pictures online. Please go to https://my.lifetouch.com/mylifetouch/#/ and use the ID: EVTXWPHV7
All students are expected to wear their full uniforms well everyday, but especially on picture day! Please let Mrs. Julie Bowles know if you are having any issues receiving your uniform from Schoolbelles as we may be able to help you secure items. She can be reached at jbbowles@cathf.com.
House Supper Club
In the usual Chesterton Tradition, we begin our supper clubs with a house supper! What is a supper club? Chesterton Supper Clubs are dinner events for our parents, faculty and staff. The night typically consists of a cocktail hour with fellowship, a guest speaker, and a delicious potluck dinner. They are perfect evenings for our parents to meet and deepen their friendships. The September house supper club is specifically designed to bring together the parents to welcome new families and focus on what it means to be a part of a house at Chesterton.
This year, our House Supper Club will be on September 18. Please stay tuned for more information, which will come from the house supper club host family. All supper club details and communications will come from the host family. Please refer to your host family with all details of the night. A HUGE thank you to our host families!
Senior Retreat
Our senior retreat will be held on September 23. Every year, Chesterton holds one retreat for each class along with an Advent and Lenten retreat. Please keep your eyes on the calendar for our next retreats!
Open Houses
We are excited to host families for our admissions Open Houses where we will give prospective students a sneak peek into life at Chesterton. We host our open houses on campus and during the school day so they have a chance to really see us in action. Students and their families will have the opportunity to meet with our faculty, staff, and students, peek into our classrooms and see a Socratic dialogue in action, tour our beautiful campus, and more. It's the perfect opportunity to get that taste of Chesterton Academy! Please let us know if you have any family or friends who are interested in Chesterton! Feel free to call Ms. Emily Ambuul anytime regarding our own family’s high school search or if you know any other families who might be interested.

Augustine House Feast
Next week we will have our first House Feast for the House of Augustine! The house feast will take place during the Wednesday house lunch on September 1. What is a House Feast? It’s a decked out lunch to celebrate the feast day of the House’s patron saint. The lunch usually consists of students going in on ordering a lunch item from a restaurant, a potluck of family favorite lunch specials, or a combination of the two. The lunches are organized by the house’s prefects and house teachers … with the help of a few house parents. If you have any questions regarding the lunch, please have your student ask their prefect for more details. The prefects are organizing the students’ contributions to the lunch so be sure to check in with them!
