2021-22 Family Handbook

The updated Chesterton Academy Family Handbook is here! All parents and students should give the handbook a read to ensure that they are up to speed on all our Chesterton policies. Just like the newsletter, it’ll answer all the questions you need and didn’t know you had. The handbook can be found on both our parent and student pages.

Invitation to Our New Information System

We are looking forward to welcoming you into our new Rediker PlusPortals Student Information System! Rediker PlusPortals will have all teacher contacts and email capability, as well as the ability to track your student’s classes and discipline records (merits and demerits).

For families that were using Jupiter Ed last year, please note that Jupiter Ed is no longer used.

This afternoon, you will receive an email directly from PlusPortals which gives you login instructions to set up your account. Please login this weekend so that we can assist you at the earliest opportunity if you have issues signing in. If you have any questions, please call the office or email Mrs. Ryan: 630-442-1424 or michelle.ryan@cathf.com

Uniforms

At this time, we have new and used uniform pieces available for purchase. Please purchase them here while supplies last. More items will be added next week, so keep your eye out for it on the next newsletter.

Starting September 7, students that forget a blazer, tie, etc. will receive a demerit and should rent the missing uniform item, for $1.00 a day, from the school office. Items borrowed should be laundered prior to returning.

If you are still awaiting uniform items from Schoolbelles, you should borrow items until yours arrive. Mrs. Bowles is in touch with Schoolbelles weekly on the delayed items. Should you need new items, order now. As with many businesses, production is taking longer than anticipated.

If you have yet to order your Gala and choir attire, please do that now. You can find the details on purchasing the choir attire at the bottom of the uniform charts on the uniform page.

If any uniform items or choir attire pieces need to be tailored, please reach out to one of our highly recommended seamstresses: Harriet Wrobel 773-317-8247 and school parent, Julie Schaefer 630-308-9721.

Mass Intentions

This year, as in years past, we are able to take mass intentions from our community for our daily on-campus masses. This year we are asking families to start out by only donating towards one mass intention so that all families have the opportunity to have a mass said. Please find the mass page here and let us know how we can pray for you!

September 18 House Supper Club

In the usual Chesterton Tradition, we begin our series of parent supper clubs with a House supper! What is a supper club? Chesterton Supper Clubs are dinner events for our parents, faculty, and staff. The night typically consists of a cocktail hour with fellowship, a guest speaker, and a delicious potluck dinner. They are perfect evenings for our parents to meet and deepen their friendships. The September House supper club is specifically designed to bring together the parents of each House (Athanasius, Chrysostom, Ambrose, and Augustine) to welcome new families and focus on what it means to be part of a house at Chesterton.

This year, our House Supper Club will be on September 18. Please stay tuned for more information, which will come from the house supper club host family. Some have received their invitations and some should receive theirs shortly. All supper club details and communications will come from the host family. Please refer to your host family for all details of the night. A HUGE thank you to our host families!

Lost and Found

Lost and Found - lost and found items will be put in Frassati in the northeast corner near the sink. If a student loses a watch, jewelry item, wallet, or something of high value, they should check the front office, as well as Frassati.

Yearbook Picture Ordering Link

If you did not receive the yearbook picture ordering sheet, have no fear! You can also order your pictures here. Please go to https://my.lifetouch.com/mylifetouch/#/ and use the ID: EVTXWPHV7

If your student needs to retake a photo or was absent on picture day, our retake day will be on October 19.

40 Days for Life and Cultura Vitae Gathering

On September 22, 40 Days for Life begins. Not sure what that is? Read all about it here. Inspired by Saint Pope John Paul II, we take as our motto Cultura Vitae, the culture of life. We make it our mission to prepare our students to triumph over the materialism and despair that pervade our culture and to accept our Lord's offer to have life and have it abundantly. In doing this, we take the pro-life cause as our particular mission. Each year during 40 Days for Life we go to the Access Abortion Clinic to spend an hour in prayer as a school. It’s a beautiful way to live out our mission in the public sphere. As the clinic is on a busier road, our young students are a beautiful witness to those driving by. This year we will pray at the clinic on October 1 to kick off the 40 days. Traditionally, after the hour of prayer, we gather together for an evening of community and fun. Please keep October 1 open on your calendars. The House of Ambrose will be organizing the evening so keep your eye out for all the details from them.
