Pope Leo XIV - First USA Born Pope

Today at Chesterton Academy of The Holy Family, we celebrated history in the making — the first United States of America born Pope Leo XIV! We started with Mass and sang America the Beautiful and prayed for Pope Leo!

We went all out with a Red, White & Blue Day and an All-American lunch featuring hotdogs, soda, chips, and Rice Krispie treats! A huge THANK YOU to everyone who made today’s All-American celebration a success! To the shoppers (Mr. & Mrs. Bowles), grillers (Mr. Jurgens, Mr. Kibler, & Mr. Nache), set-up crew (Mrs. Cummins, Ms. Houska, Mrs. Schaefer & Ms. Trapp), servers (Ms. Paulson & Mrs. Kroupa), and especially the clean-up team —we are so grateful! Thank you to Mr. Jurcik for taking so many pictures.

It’s no small feat to grill 350 hot dogs and serve soda to 200 people—but you did it with joy and teamwork! It takes everyone’s “yes” to make an event like this happen, and we couldn’t have done it without you!

The students and staff had an amazing day and were decked out in red, white, and blue! Thank you Mr. Chong for allowing this fun celebration in honor of Pope Leo! We are very excited to continue praying for Pope Leo - our Chicago-born Holy Father!
