Field Day and Holy Family Days

Thank you to all the students for bringing their Chestertonian school spirit this week for Holy Family Days and their razor sharp competitive edge for Winter Field Day! It was another week of white-knuckle finishes! Students competed in House spirit fight songs, a dance-off, drawing competition, futsal, ping pong, survival skills, and an obstacle course — and don’t forget the spontaneous snowball fight during our mask break. If you went home tired and left it all on the battlefield, then you did it right!

Congratulations to the House of Augustine who clawed their way to the top of the Field Day charts! Way to go, Houses! You can find the results of all the events below!

We had an amazing volleyball tournament throughout the week to celebrate Holy Family Days. Thank you to all who helped with setting up the gym! You can find the results of all the events below!

Open Mic Night

Get Ready for Open Mic Night reviews!

Bring your best singing voices next week on Thursday 2/4 and Friday 2/5 to our open mic audition reviews. The actual event will be on February 12 and the performance will be after school which will allow for a short time to warm up and practice. The actual time of the Open Mic event is to be announced.

Please submit a proposal to let us know if you would like to audition. We will get back to you to schedule your review on Thursday or Friday. See Ms. Severance with any questions.

You don't need to be a world-class performer to be a part of open mic night! These reviews are to ensure that all the performances are appropriate and within our CATHF guidelines. Due to COVID regulations, only current students will be allowed to attend the performances on February 12. We will work to provide a livestream or recording of the performance for the families to view as well.

This event has been a blast in past years, and we hope to see you all there!

February and March Boxed Lunch Program

Citrus Diner in Westmont has teamed up with Chesterton once again to offer boxed lunches for the months of February and March (up until spring break). Please review the program details and place your order if you would like to participate in the lunch program by 3pm on Saturday, January 30, 2021 (we have extended the deadline). The lunch program for February and March will start this coming Monday, February 1. The next chance you will have to place orders is in mid-March.

*Please note that for Ash Wednesday on February 17, 2021, there will be lighter options for lunch with a choice between a tuna sandwich and veggie wrap.

More details regarding food choices etc. can be found on the ordering page at:

Gala Updates

It’s almost Gala time! We know that this gala is looking very different from years past, so we wanted to provide a summary of where things stand.

Locations: On-site, satellite, and online

This year, as you know, our Fleur-de-Lis Gala on March 6, 2021, will be a multi-site event. Our flagship location will be Bobak's Signature Events where CATHF seniors and their families will join our top supporters and leadership. Seniors and senior families, we will send you our new electronic registration form so you can sign up for gala tickets and tables just as you would have in years past. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the on-site event will run through 10:30 p.m.

Due to COVID regulations, we have limited on-site tickets for Bobak’s. However, there will be a portion of tickets reserved for families who would like to join on site. Please stay tuned for more information regarding on-site ticketing as we fill our primary gala venue with seniors, their families, and supporters.

That flagship location will be supported by satellite events at homes (or other venues you may have a connection with e.g., country club, parish hall, office building events center, etc.). For the satellite parties, food and the venue will be provided by the parent/donor host, but we certainly would not expect everyone to provide a three-course meal the likes of what we have on-site. The number of guests that each home party has is up to the host. The number of guests at that party can be from 10 (in addition to your family) to however many you would like to host safely at your home. If you are interested in hosting a party at your home, please contact Ms. Jurado via Jupiter Ed and she will reach out to you to get the details so we can set up the ticketing page for you. In order to sync up with the gala program that will be livestreamed, we encourage you to have guests arrive by at least 6:30 p.m.

gala programming, auction, and raffle

The gala program will be livestreamed by the school. It will be a combination of pre-recorded segments, as well as some livestreaming of segments from the flagship site. The livestreamed portion of the program will be a a joyful and inspiring event you will want to share with your friends and family all around the country so they can get involved with supporting Chesterton students! It will run for about an hour beginning at about 7:00 p.m.

As always, we will have a silent auction, and we thank you all for your participation in preparing the auction. People can participate remotely so your family and friends from around the country can have a chance to win and support the school. A few weeks before the gala we will begin rolling out bidding for baskets.

We are still in need of auction items. Please see this needs list and sign up for whatever items you can provide. Thank you! Signup Genius has been having a few site wide issues. If the link does not work when you first attempt it, please try again in a few minutes. We have had successful sign-ups using the above links, but occasionally the site goes down temporarily.

Likewise, we'll also have the raffle contest with multiple grand prizes. Each family is asked to sell at least 5 tickets of 750 tickets total for our school. This is a major house competition too! We’ll see if anyone can dethrone the House of Augustine as raffle-selling champions…

Ad book

We also have the ad book, which will be printed for people who attend at Bobak's or a house party (and provided electronically to those who participate remotely). It's a great way to promote your business and to raise money by selling ads. We also have opportunities for senior parents to purchase discounted ads for their seniors. We have called each family with details on that opportunity. The ad book will be available in print to those at parties and digitally to those participating only remotely. Our auction app will also feature the logos of businesses who purchase sponsorships before and during the event.

Check out details or purchase ads here: https://chestertonacademyoftheholyfamily.com/event-tickets/2021-ads

and presenting this year’s fleur-de-lis award winner!

And finally, we are pleased to announce that Fr. Thomas Koys, the rector of St. James at Sag Bridge and associate pastor at Sts. Cyril and Methodius, will be the recipient of the 2021 Fleur-de-Lis Award. He has been a long-time supporter of the school and a booster for so many good Catholic and pro-life efforts in the community.

Supper Club

Parents – please save the date for our first Supper Club of 2021 next Saturday night, February 6, 2021.

We are excited to see our Chesterton parents again! Please note that we're going to a new location for this supper club and we will need to make some adjustments due to COVID guidelines.
