“Thronging of the thousands up that labour under sea
White for bliss and blind for sun and stunned for liberty.
Vivat Hispania!
Domino Gloria!
Don John of Austria
Has set his people free!”

Columbus Day - no school
On Monday, October 11, there will be no school in observance of Columbus Day. The school office will be closed for the day as well.
End of First Quarter - a note from our Headmaster
Dear All,
As the 1st quarter comes to a close, it's good to reflect on how much our students have already learned. The freshman have heard the great rhetoric of the heroes of the Trojan War, they have wrestled with the thoughts of Parmenides, and heard with new ears the story of Creation. The sophomores have wrestled with the restless flame that is the soul of St. Augustine, and have reasoned through the riddles and paradoxes of Chesterton's Orthodoxy. The Juniors are halfway through Hell, (and that's just their literature class!) while the Seniors have seen how man makes idols of science or experience in Frankenstein and Faust. We have made new friends, and welcomed back old ones. We have prayed together, competed together, won and lost together, laughed and sang together.
We have so much to be thankful for, and we have just begun. For your support, for your prayers, and for the wind at our backs, let us give thanks.
In Christ,
Dan Janeiro
Visiting Priests
This week, Fr. Joseph Fessio of Ignatius Press and Fr. Nathan Cromly of Eagle Eye Ministries visited our school. Check out this news article to hear more about their visits!
Open House - October 13
Our first Open House is this upcoming week on Wednesday, October 13, from 9am - 11am. Please send this link to your friends and family. This is their last chance to RSVP for the October Open House. However, they can RSVP for our November and January Open Houses too!
Parent Supper Club - October 16
We hope you’ve been saving the date for our second supper club of the year! The supper club will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul in Naperville, from 6:30pm - 9:30pm, on Saturday, October 16. Fr. Ryan, our guest speaker and social media expert, will talk to us about social media and the family. Please use this link to RSVP by signing up for a potluck item or job during the evening.
We hope to see you all there! It will be a lovely and lively evening of friendship and food.
Fall Field Day
Our Fall Field Day is on October 20, just one and a half weeks away! Field days consist of intellectual, artistic, and athletic competitions between the four houses for a full school day. Students will need to wear their house t-shirts and dress in their house colors (blue for Ambrose, red for Athanasius, green for Chrysostom, and yellow for Augustine). Students, please take a look at the uniform page for the out-of-uniform guidelines.
Students, find those house tees! If a student misplaced a house tee, he can buy one here. The link is also on the student page, so please look for it there as well. If a student does not come dressed in his house colors and shirt, he must come in full uniform.
We look forward to a day of friendly and spirited competition. This is a huge chance to win points for your house!
Yearbook Picture Retake
Yearbook picture retake day will be on October 19. Students, if you would like a new picture, please come looking sharp and in your full uniform. Parents, you can reorder pictures here and use the ID: EVT8HHBNF
Coffee and Conversation
Our second Coffee and Conversation with a teacher will be on October 27 from 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. here on campus. Please keep that date saved and look out for more information!
All Saints Day
All Saints Day here at Chesterton is a pretty big deal. “Why?” you ask? The saints are some of our greatest teachers. They are simple people who lived profound lives in every age that we study here at Chesterton. From the early Christian martyrs to the young Blessed Carlo Acutis and his Nike shoes, we see that every person is called to sainthood, no matter the age or time period. We take the Saints as our patrons for our various sports teams and strive, with every play we make, to honor their lives on and off the courts, fields, and meets.
Every year, for All Saints Day on November 1, the students dress up as various saints for the school day. Rules for costumes will be released shortly, but all of our students come dressed as closely to their saint as possible. Please take a moment to look at last year’s Flickr album from the day for inspiration.
Lessons and Carols on December 16!
Our Advent Lessons and Carols service featuring all of our students will be on December 16 at Sts. Peter and Paul in Naperville at 7 p.m. New families, please note that this is an all-school required event for students. This is a wonderful event for your families to attend so they can see all the hard work our students are doing in their music classes.
Please order your student’s formal wear for Lessons and Carols this week. It can take weeks to receive it given supplier issues due to COVID. You can find all uniform information here.
