Gala Expectations for Students and Parents Next Week
the week of the gala
Students will have their second gala training with Mrs. Billing. They will also be assigned their jobs (raffle ticket seller, emissary, front door greeter, and many more!).
This weekend is the best time to get haircuts so you can look sharp for the gala.
Polish up those shoes! Mr. Hector Delgado of the junior class has generously offered to shine shoes during lyceum all of next week.
Bust out your gala dresses and suits, dust them off, press or steam them, and make sure they looking fresh for Saturday night! Gentlemen, make sure you have your bowties. Ladies, you can wear pearls.
Parents: Sign up for a volunteer job. There are jobs we need help with during the week of the gala, as well as the day and night of the event. Those include set-up and cleanup, transporting items, filling table bags, and more. Just a little help from everyone will go a long way! Please keep your eye out for the Signup Genius. It will be emailed and texted to all families.
The Day of the gala
Seniors, our tradition is for your class to come to Drury Lane to help for an hour.
Arrival time for all students is 4:00 p.m. House teachers will be taking attendance.
How to Reach Our Gala Goal
One week! One week till Chesterton’s favorite night! We have so many amazing people attending the Gala this year and it’s going to be an absolute blast.
THE AUCTION:
The auction is LIVE!! If you have not yet registered for the auction, you can do so here. And, we have another bonus gift opportunity! From now until Saturday, February 26 at 11:59 p.m., those who register for the silent auction will be put in the running for a $50 gift card to a Chesterton favorite, Citrus Diner! You will not want to miss out on winning an amazing basket - or two! Your friends and family from across the country can place bids as well. We can ship anything except for our baskets with alcohol. Send them the link! The auction closes at Saturday, March 5 at 9:30 p.m. CST.
RAFFLE TICKETS:
Sell those raffle tickets! Students: If we can sell all 8oo tickets by the end of the Gala evening, you get the Friday before Spring Break, March 18, off from school! All tickets sold up until Friday, March 4 at 11:59 p.m., will be counted as 1 merit for your house. Tickets sold the day of the gala do not count towards your house; due to the way we set up the raffle ticket teams on the night of the gala, there is an uneven balance of house members. We, of course, do not want to give point priority to a certain house. So sell this week! It’s your last chance to win big for your house!
Crystal Vases
Every year we ask families to bring in a crystal vase or two to use for the center pieces at our gala. If your family has a crystal vase you feel would be great to use, please drop it off on campus and our decoration committee will see if they can use it. Please put a piece of tape with your name on the bottom of the vase. Vases must be clean when brought in. You can take the arrangement home with you the night of the gala.
Spring Sports
Join us for the spring sports meeting on Monday, February 28th, at 7 p.m. in St. Sebastian Gym. This is an informational meeting for all spring sport athletes and one parent. This is an opportunity to meet the coaches and learn about the expectations of playing sports at Chesterton. If you are on the fence about any sport, you are invited to the meeting as well.
Please get your physicals into the school office by Monday if you have not already submitted them. You may not practice until all forms are on file in the office. If you have played a sport this year, please check that your physicals are current and up-to-date.
Register for Spring Sports Here!!
Ball and Cross Invitational
The Ball and Cross Invitational is in just a few weeks, and we are once again hosting the event. We will be joined by the Chesterton Academies in Milwaukee, Detroit, Peoria, and Volo! The Lady and Gentleman Saints teams (both JV and Varsity for both boys and girls) will be playing during the weekend. We hope you join us March 11-12 for a weekend of great basketball games!

Admission will be charged, but there will be a family price cap. This year, we will feature an all-new invitational t-shirt! You won’t want to miss out on one of these original tees.
We hope to see you at the games! Go Saints!
Pray for our Mexico Pilgrims
Our Mexico pilgrimage is fast approaching! On March 18, students from our senior class, along with a few of the senior parents and our chaperones, will embark on Pilgrimage to Mexico. There they will visit many historical landmarks, cities, churches, and best of all, the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe! As they go deeper into the preparation for pilgrimage, please say a prayer for a happy, holy, healthy, and safe pilgrimage. Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
40 Days for Life
Every year during Lent, the pro-life movement holds its nationwide 40 Days for Life. This year it begins on March 2, Ash Wednesday. As we take Cultura Vitae as our motto, we strongly encourage all families to consider praying for at least 1 hour at a local abortion clinic. Our students and families often pray at the Downers Grove Access Abortion Clinic. You can find all the local 40 Days for Life locations on their website.
